CUBS - Always on the go!

Cubs have been doing lots of different and exciting things since January 2012 thanks to Akela Helen and the team - Becky, John, Emily and Gareth.  We have done dancing, visiting fire stations, walks out, bbq and campfire cooking, sleepover and visit to an observatory, parachute games in the park, visit to diggerland and much more.  Here are just a few of the pictures:

Newtondale Trail Hike: 2 September

On Sunday 2 September we’re planning to hike the Newtondale Trail in the North Yorkshire Moors. Starting from Pickering station car park, we’ll walk along the trail roughly following the route of the North York Moors Railway.

The activity is open to Explorers and older Scouts. The plan is for Scouts to walk from Pickering to the village of Goathland (also known as Aidensfield from the TV series Heartbeat). The distance is approx. 20km (13miles). Explorers will walk an extra leg from Goathland to Grosmont, taking their total distance up to approximately 25km (16miles).

We will return to Pickering station via steam train.

We’re still working out the details, but expect that the cost will be in the £10-15 range, depending on take up. We will set off at approx. 8am, returning at approx. 7pm. You will need hiking boots, suitable outdoor clothing, a day sack, and a packed lunch.

Group Weekend Camp : 14-16 September

We are holding a Group weekend camp at Silverwood Scout Camp near Dodworth, from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon, 14-16th September 2012.

The camp is open to all Cubs, Scouts and Explorers and will be a fantastic opportunity for the Group to get together, learn new skills, have lots of fun and play plenty of games.

The cost of the camp is £20 which includes camp fees and all meals.

You should have a letter about this, but if not ask any Leader for details.
