T4 Challenge Camp

http://www.flickr.com/photos/30263703@N04/6872078524/

8 scouts and 5 explorers, enjoyed a mixture of fog, sunshine and lots of dry weather over the Friday to Sunday afternoon of the weekend just gone.

Competing in a range of varied fun activities the scouts enjoyed go kart racing through the darkened woods on the Friday. The Scouts took turns in as many of the challenges as they could fit in, in the time allowed on the Saturday. The explorers helped out as part of the team and everyone enjoyed the day and the star wars based wide game in the evening, and we were all exhausted by the time lights out came.

On Sunday, the scouts multitasked by playing 3 games all at the same time!

When it came to adding up all the scores, Ardsley did theirselves proud by amassing enough points to secure 2nd place out of 9 teams. This means that they win a day out rock climbing, well done to all those involved, and thank you to everyone who helped out.

Mothers' Day Church Parade - 18 March

On Sunday 18th March we'll be taking part in the Mothers' Day Church Parade at Christ Church, Ardsley.

ALL MEMBERS ARE EXPECTED TO ATTEND.

This year it's a special occasion, as the service will be lead by the Bishop of Sheffield, Bishop Stephen...

... and I'm sure Snowball the puppet will also be making an appearance.

This is a family service, so Mums and Dads are welcome to attend, but come early as the church is sure to be full.

As usual, we'll be meeting from 10.00am and the service should be concluded by 11.45pm.

Members should wear uniform.

St George's Day Event - 29 April

As part of our District St George's Day celebrations - St George is the Patron Saint of Scouting - you are invited you to a special George's Day event, which will be held on Sunday 29th April at Wentworth Castle.

This event is for all Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and their families.

Arrival is from 11:00am onwards, via the Northern College Entrance please – you will be directed where to park.

Between 11:00am and 2:45pm it's your chance to enjoy the gardens and parkland, take part in a treasure hunt, archery, canoe slalom, crafts, adventure playground and much more...

At 2:45pm we'll make our way up to the castle with the parade of flags for a short St Georges Day service

The event will finish at 4:00pm, but you're welcome to continue to enjoy the parklands and gardens until they close at 5:00pm.

We want you to enjoy the day as a family so all are welcome. Access to the gardens and parking, for which there is normally a charge, has been arranged for FREE, however if you would like to make a small donation please come along to the District Tent where you can throw a few coins in a bucket and pick up information about activities and the various treasure hunts.

Wentworth Castle has a small cafe and a kiosk selling refreshments, including ice creams, however due to the potential volume of people attending, we recommend you bring along your own packed lunch and a drink.

Wentworth Castle is a beautiful and picturesque place; if you would like more details of what’s on offer or directions please check out the Wentworth Castle website at http://www.wentworthcastle.org

ALL SCOUT MEMBERS SHOULD WEAR UNIFORM
