Scout Expedition Camp May 2012

From Friday 11th May, 9 Scouts set off from the Scout HQ on a 8 mile hike to Silverwood Camp Site.  After pitching up , the Scouts collected wood for the fire and enjoyed hot chocolate and buns before retiring to bed.

On Saturday morning the Scouts rose to cook breakfast on an open fire, collect wood, fetch water and build survival shelters ready for their beds later on Saturday night.  After setting off on a hike towards Wentworth Castle where they undertook a Leaders Challenge, where they searched the parklands for points of interest and took photos of each.

After returning to the camp, the Scouts prepared the fires for a serving of baked potatoes and delicious fillings.  After a quick rebuilding of the shelters, the Scouts settled down to gain their experience of sleeping in a survival shelter.  Hot chocolate and biscuits set the Scouts up for a good nights rest.

Rising on Sunday morning the Scouts started to show signs of tiredness as they played out a wide game, but they carried on to the conclusion at lunchtime.

All in all, this was a great achievement for all the Scouts who have met their requirements for their Expedition Challenge Badge, and some also gained enough experience for some activity badges too, including their Survival Skills Badge.

Thanks for all the help to the other leaders.
